The Sony Music Timeline celebrates 125 years of musical history covering almost 150 square meters of wall space in Sony’s Derry Street offices. Using just CNC cut vinyl as the sole medium, 54 columns measuring over 2 meters tall cover feature nearly 1000 of Sony Music's signed artists from 1887 to the present day. I saw this a bit before I started the type posters and it's my main source of inspiration for the brief. (video below)
Beautiful use of various typefaces. Designer, Alex, used 50 different typeaces which sounds like quite alot, but the finished result was 2 Meters long and covered almost 150 square meters. To show more variation he included elements within or accompanying the type.
