No News Is Good News.
I'm not a big fan of xfctor but the reason I chose to research it was because I've always been interested with how easy it is to be sucked into these kind of things. It's mindless viewing yet it draws in millions of viewers each week. The story I looked at was a of a contestant being accused of bullying but I really wanted to focus on Xfactor as a whole. I sound like a "cliche indie kid" saying this but I find it so commercial. It's never about the music. It's only really about who can sell the most records and Simon Cowell just manufactures clones year after year.
As a starting point I'm going to look at Xfactor itself just to broaden it up and then handpick the most interesting areas of the show (if any) and dive deeper into that area.
If I had to say which area I want to focus on now- I would pick the people who didn't quite make it or those who did make it but can now be found in a HMV bargain bag. I think it'll be really interesting to get more behind the scenes and get under the fakery and see what it's really about.
