Taking A Stand Against Ugly: Meet Brazilian Architect Guto Requena

Amazing video from The Creators Project Staff speaking about the studio's process and outlook on current/future architecture.

Extract from the website - One of the themes near and dear to the work of architect Guto Requena is his love for São Paulo, the city in which he resides, and his desire to transform it. São Paulo has many visual delights—hidden amid the largely stagnant and aesthetically-confused architecture—and these are a great source of inspiration (and challenge) for Requena’s designs. With his firm, Estúdio Guto Requena, Requena takes a process-oriented approach to design, focused on experimental techniques, and strives to be socially and geographically conscious.

Guto Requena said something in the video which really stood out to me.

" My sensibility isn't based on aesthetic beauty. It's about process."

It stood out because it's something that I take into consideration in my own practice. Being a concept heavy designer I believe the idea should be number 1 priority throughout briefs with the idea shaping and informing the design.
