Corkellis House

This was brought to my attention on twitter. This beautiful house was designed by and for an interior designer  Kathryn Tyler. The house was inspired by Scandinavian architecture and is a great example of form following function. It's beautifully simple.

The Corkellis House is a private residence designed and built by and for interior designer Kathryn Tyler of Linea Studio. The two-storey home is located in Falmouth, a small town on the south coast of Cornwall, England. Displaying a contemporary, distinguished architecture, the modern residence features beautiful mid-century Scandinavian furniture and personalized decorative items that bring flavor to the interiors. The lot is part of the family’s property – allowing the interior designer to visit her mom and dad whenever she feels like it. By building the modern home on the adjacent area of her parents’ home, Kathryn can enjoy both the memories of the old house and the promise of new memories in the new house. Although the lot had limited measurements, the designer managed to create a splendid eco-friendly modern home. Conventional materials were used in building this dreamy home, and the architecture and interiors display the designer’s love for vintage Danish furniture. The interesting floor plan allowed Kathryn to display her own style. A white painted brick ground floor is enhanced by the timber-clad upper floor, offering a surprising facade. As the years go by, the designer will have a fascinating and extremely personalized place to start a family.
